Shooting festival in Lüerte: Who will be the new king or queen?

On the last weekend in June, June 28th and 29th, 2025, the Lüerte-Holzhausen shooting club will celebrate its traditional shooting festival NWZ Online reported. The venue is the grounds and the Schützenhalle in Lüerte. As preparations intensify, it will be exciting to see whether a queen or a king will rule the Riflemen.

On the Thursday evening before the festival, a joint wreath-tying of the gates of honor at the shooting range in Lüerte takes place, a celebratory start to the festive season. The first day of the festival starts on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the club's appearance on Schützenplatz. The child king Lauri Johannsen and his aides Jari Johannsen and Marie Selsemeier will then be picked up, accompanied by music.

Festival program and highlights

One of the highlights of the first day is the laying of a wreath at the memorial in Lüerte to commemorate the war victims. The royal shooting, in which all royal families fight for the crown, will also play a central role. The proclamation of the Children's Royal House takes place late on Saturday afternoon. The evening will be festively rounded off with an event with friendly clubs and music from DJ Markus.

The second day of the festival begins on Sunday at 1:20 p.m. with the parade on the Schützenplatz and the march with the Großenkneten marching band to pick up King Henrik Scheele and his adjutants Maik Scheele and Henry Selsemeier. Here too, the proclamation of the new royal families of the riflemen and youth is scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Your physical well-being is taken care of on both days.

Looking back at the past child kings

The shooting club can look back on a long tradition. In 2024, Lauri Johannsen was the child king, supported by his aides Jari Johannsen and Marie Selsemeier. In 2023, Hannah Iaquinta from Lüerte was crowned children's queen, while in 2022 Hanna Debbeler from Düngstrup was awarded the title. Historically, the list of children's kings continues from year to year and offers an exciting look back at the development of the club.

Overall, the Schützenfest promises to be a weekend full of tradition, community and a festive atmosphere. Preparations are in full swing and the anticipation among members and guests is palpable. The shooting club website offers further information on the royal beginnings and the extensive history of the club.
