On June 10, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on the L349 state road, which leads from Holzhausen to Ströhen in Lower Saxony. A 42-year-old man overtook another vehicle at an excessive speed before he wanted to push in again after overtaking. In a subsequent right -hand bend, however, the driver lost control of his car and got left off the road.
The vehicle crashed head-on into a tree, trapping the driver inside the car. The fire department was required to free the severely injured man from the predicament, which took some time. The injuries sustained were deemed life-threatening. Westfalen-Blatt reports that a rescue helicopter was requested to transport the seriously injured to a closest hospital.
Hours blocking of the state road
During the accident recording and the rescue of the accident, the state road had to be completely blocked for several hours. The police estimate the damage to property at around 10,000 euros. The challenges that this incident brought with it were alleviated by the quick and professional reaction of the rescue workers.
There was another serious accident on May 29, 2025 in Engstingen. A 27-year-old motorcyclist was injured in a fall there. The accident occurred in the Haid industrial park when the driver was traveling at excessive speed, lost his balance and slipped into a house wall. His driverless motorcycle then collided with a flagpole. In this case, the affected person was also flown to a clinic in a rescue helicopter after he had been treated by emergency services at the scene of the accident. SWP reported on the incident, which resulted in an estimated property damage of around 6,000 euros.
The high accident rate combined with excessive speed is increasingly becoming a source of danger on German roads.
