A 42-year-old man overtook another vehicle at an excessive speed before he wanted to push in again after overtaking. In a subsequent right -hand bend, however, the driver lost control of his car and got left off the road.
The vehicle crashed head-on into a tree, trapping the driver inside the car. The fire department was required to free the severely injured man from the predicament, which took some time. The injuries sustained were deemed life-threatening. Westfalen-Blatt reports that a rescue helicopter was requested to transport the seriously injured to a closest hospital.
Hours blocking of the state road
During the accident recording and the rescue of the accident, the state road had to be completely blocked for several hours. The police estimate the damage to property at around 10,000 euros.
