Art and creativity bloom: Mobilatelier opens in Holzhausen!

On June 11, 2025, a new chapter in art history was opened in Holzhausen am Ammersee: the mobile studio, initiated by the artists Hanna Kuster and Lara Werth. The opening ceremony attracted numerous visitors, including the mayor of Utting. The duo "Ammersee-Amseln", consisting of Monika Drasch and Carolin Völk, created a festive atmosphere with traditional chants such as the folk song "The thoughts are free". Augsburg general reports that the event appears for a creative exchange and inspiring meetings represent the region.

The mobile studio is operated in the former Malek house and is accessible to the public until July 19, 2025. Under the patronage of the Jesical Culture Foundation and the municipality of Utting, the initiative is funded with the aim of bringing art to rural areas. At the opening, Florian Feller from the Jeskulturstiftung emphasizes the significant revival of the almost 100-year history of art in Holzhausen.

history of the artist colony

Around 1900,

Holzhausen was the center of an influential artist colony, which became known primarily through the contemporary Art Nouveau. Many of the studio houses that were then used by artists have been preserved to this day. The historical importance of this colony is also discussed in the planned tours that trace the life path and the work of the artists in Holzhausen. Kunst-Tour emphasizes that these guided tours comprise a route of about 3 km, starting in the artist house of Mathias and Anne-Sophie Gasteiger and ending in the high cemetery of the local church of St. Ulrich, where many artists are.

In the Malek House, a multimedia exhibition is also shown that links the stories of the Holzhausen artists with the work of Kuster and Werth. Kusters, which has refined their techniques with watercolor and oil on paper, often addresses human aspects in their work. Werth, on the other hand, reflects their trips in their works of art and combine landscapes with urban elements.

artistic workshops and events

The program in the mobile studio includes several workshops that are open to different age groups. On June 13th, an “After Work Art” event will be offered, followed by a meeting for the elderly on June 22nd, which combines art, coffee and cake. Parent-child workshops on July 6th and a conversation with the artists on July 11th are also on the plan.

The series of events is supplemented by a special cooperation: On June 14th, Lara Werth invites you to an innovative connection between art and Thai boxing with "Art meets Sport". In addition, on June 27th there will be "open studios" in Utting and Holzhausen, which offer the general public the opportunity to immerse yourself in the creative world of artists.

The opening of the mobile studio not only marks the start of a new artistic project, but also the continuation of a long tradition of art in Holzhausen, which is reinterpreted by contemporary artists.
