FC Holzhausen starts cooperation with Kimmich Academy – football future for kids!

FC Holzhausen has launched an exciting cooperation with the “Kimmich Academy” run by German national player Joshua Kimmich. This was officially sealed by the signature of the managing director Manfred Flohr and the board members Bernd Plocher and Christoph Dast. The starting signal for this collaboration will be on November 23, 2025 with an autumn football camp on an artificial turf field in Renfrizhausen, which has to take place there due to the weather. More than half of the available places for the camp have already been filled, so around 120 children between the ages of 6 and 14 are expected, like Schwarzwälder Bote reported.

The cooperation with the Kimmich Academy aims to offer its own youth new opportunities and create regional options in youth football. The Academy takes care of the sporting aspects, while FC Holzhausen provides the grounds. The academy's family approach is particularly emphasized, which was also expressed in the opening event of the first camp in Rottweil on September 15, 2025. 132 children took part there and experienced football training at various stations under the guidance of qualified trainers, as SWP reports.

The philosophy of the Kimmich Academy

With his academy, Joshua Kimmich wants to enable children and young people to follow in his footsteps without having to change clubs. The program not only offers camps, but also remedial training and tournaments. “The fun of football” and the opportunity for further development are the focus. Kimmich and the participating politicians, including Mayor Christian Ruf, praised the Academy as a future opportunity for the region.

These initiatives are part of a larger trend in football development that highlights the importance of academies in developing talent. According to information from Equivita, football academies are crucial for training players who will be successful in leading European leagues. Despite the high operating costs of 2 to 10 million euros annually, investing in youth development makes financial sense, as successful academies strengthen a club's identity and promote the development of talent.

Overall, the cooperation between FC Holzhausen and the “Kimmich Academy” shows an important step towards improved, sustainable talent promotion in the regional area. This could be of great importance not only for the club, but also for the entire region in order to offer young talents a realistic perspective in football.
