Donaufeld is crowned champion of the Eastern League – excitement for promotion remains!

In the Regionalliga East, the Donaufeld team and the Young Violets Austria Vienna recently played crucial games. On June 3, 2025, SR Donaufeld secured the championship title in the Eastern League early by defeating FavAC 2-1. This victory was the key to their unassailable lead, which means a four-point lead in the table. The championship came about due to the simultaneous defeats of SC Neusiedl and FC Marchfeld Donauauen, who both lost their games.

The decisive match took place last weekend when Masse Scherzadeh scored 1-0 for Donaufeld in the 53rd minute. FavAC had to continue playing outnumbered from the 58th minute onwards after Marko Stevanovic was sent off. In the 80th minute, Ilija Petkovic increased the lead to 2-0 before Kenny Schincariol scored the next goal for FavAC in stoppage time.

Young Violets still in the promotion race

Although Donaufeld is confirmed as champion, the situation surrounding the possible promotion of the Young Violets remains exciting. They won their last game against ASV Siegendorf 3-1 and still have the chance to be promoted to the 2nd league. In a dramatic encounter, bottom-placed Siegendorf initially took the lead through Ifechukwu Okechukwu Amobi in the 24th minute. But an own goal from Julian Klar in the 36th minute and further goals from Julian Roider and Philipp Hosiner determined the outcome of the game. These successes are important for the Young Violets as they are tied for second place with Neusiedl and Marchfeld before the final matchday.

Before the final matchday on Friday, all three teams have 55 points. The Young Violets will play against Traiskirchen, while Marchfeld Donauauen will play against Wiener Sport-Club and Neusiedl will face the champion team from Donaufeld. In this last game, the Young Violets could be promoted to the 2nd league with a win, which would also have an impact on the question of relegation for ASK Voitsberg if the Young Violets were to be promoted to second place.

Due to these developments, the tension in the remaining games of the Regionalliga East remains unbroken. Donaufeld will remain in third division next season as no application for admission to the ADMIRAL 2nd league has been applied for, but the Young Violets could still decide everything with a strong finish.

The last round not only promises an exciting end to the season, but could also set the course for the coming season.
