Caroline Joyeux: Triple jump star triumphs as ace of the month!
Caroline Joyeux, the talented triple jumper from LG Nord Berlin, has impressively established herself as “Ace of the Month” for June 2025. She beat strong competition with an outstanding performance at the “Day of the High Fliers” on June 1st and achieved a personal best of 14.45 meters, which makes her the leader of the European annual best list. Her best performance shows that she plays a role not only in national competitions, but also in international athletics. The vote for the election took place on the social media of the German Athletics Association (DLV), where more than 600 votes were cast. Joyeux received 33.3% of the vote, while her competitors, including runner Alexander Stepanov and hammer thrower Merlin Hummel, lagged behind.
On June 28th, Joyeux demonstrated her form at the European Team Championships in Madrid, where she won the competition in the decisive final attempt with 14.42 meters. The German team thus secured a strong second place in the team rankings of the best 16 nations, despite tough competition. Italy led the field with 290 points, while Germany scored 266 points. Joyeux’s success in the triple jump has made a significant contribution to this improvement. The men's 4x100 meter relay team and discus thrower Mika Sosna also achieved strong placings, which further underlines the German team's level of performance.
Team European Championships: A step forward
The European Team Championships in Madrid was an exciting event for the German athletes. On the penultimate day of the competition, the German team was able to improve from seventh to second place with 266 points. Other outstanding performances include the second place of discus thrower Mika Sosna, who reached 66.17 meters, and the third place of the men's 4 × 100 meter relay in 38.27 seconds.
The women's relay also made an exclamation mark and took third place in 42.52 seconds. High jumper Tobias Potye rounded off the successes by coming third with 2.24 meters. The European Team Championships continue on Sunday with further competitions, including long jump and javelin throw, and promise exciting competitions.
