Discover Leipzig: The new City Guide 2025/26 is here!
The City Guide for Leipzig and the region has been published in the new 2025/26 edition and once again offers visitors lots of tips for eventful days. Now in its 17th edition, the guide is a popular guide that is available both in print and digitally. The updated digital edition provides additional background knowledge about culture and the quality of life in the city. The printed City Guide, which is available free of charge in a compact DIN A5 format, can be picked up at the Leipzig Tourist Information Office, the ticket gallery and other locations, such as LeipzigInfo reports.
The guide not only introduces historical buildings, but also offers culinary tips and information about the city's specialties. Detailed advice on city tours, museum visits, cultural tours and even coffee breaks are also included. The Leipzig Neuseenland is particularly highlighted with its facets, including an interactive map that shows favorite places on the water.
An event calendar for everyone
Another important component of the city guide is the events calendar, which lists events relevant to tourism in Leipzig and the region. This allows visitors to actively plan their stay and not miss any highlights. The City Guide is available for the first time as a PDF from the Together for Leipzig association, and more information is available on the pages city-guide-leipzig.de as well as common-fuer-leipzig.de to find.
Leipzig has developed positively since reunification. The city center shines in new splendor, and despite some architectural sins, the city's characteristics are evident: cosmopolitanism, a spirit of contradiction, civic spirit and Saxon coziness. Cultural offerings such as the Gewandhaus Orchestra and the St. Thomas Choir attract many people and are often accompanied by the conviviality and humor that characterize the people of Leipzig. The cabaret artist Meigl Hoffmann describes the city with a joke about Napoleon and Erich Honecker, both of whom failed before Leipzig, which reflects the city's self-deprecating spirit.
The gastronomic tips in Leipzig are just as varied. The Café Grundmann in the southern suburb is known for its delicious schnitzel and melange. In the suburbs close to the center there are numerous cafés, clubs and small pubs that enrich social life in Leipzig. The zoo and the musical comedy are highly recommended for a varied stay in the city.
