Leipzig, Deutschland - A 33-year-old man who became known as a brutal rapist in the Leipzig Rosental was fleeing after almost eight years. The police arrested him on Thursday after the issue of an arrest warrant. This refers to several severe sexual offenses, including particularly severe rape and tried rape. The man had already noticed in February 2023 during theft in a hardware store, where he stole grill cleaners and a kitchen knife.

The identification of the perpetrator was promoted by evaluating DNA traces. These agreed with secure material from other cases that were previously considered unclear. The attack on a 69-year-old jogger on August 31, 2017 was particularly serious: she was attacked, beaten and raped by the perpetrator, which suffered serious injuries and had to be operated on.

The investigation also showed that the suspect is related to two further attacks: an incident at the Cospudener See in April 2016 and a sexual assault in Eutritzsch in March 2017.
