Czech arrested at border control in Görlitz – substitute prison sentence!
On August 19, 2025 at 8:15 p.m., a 38-year-old Czech man who was traveling from Poland was arrested in Görlitz. The arrest took place as part of increased border controls. The man was sentenced to a fine of 836 euros in 2024 for violating the Consumer Cannabis Act. Since he was unable to pay this fine, he now has to serve seven days in a correctional facility.
