Frenzy on the S 289: Speed camera catches 29 speeding violations!
Traffic police measured the speeds of almost 900 vehicles on the S 289 between Werdau and Crimmitschau on Wednesday afternoon. A total of 897 vehicles were recorded over a four-hour period, with 29 drivers exceeding the speed limit. Things are now getting serious for eight of these speeders: they have to expect fines. On this section, cars have a speed limit of 100 km/h, while trucks over 7.5 tonnes are allowed to drive a maximum of 60 km/h.
The top speeding offender was a Renault driver who was clocked at an incredible 143 km/h. After deducting tolerance, a fine of 200 euros and a point in Flensburg await him. The fastest truck, however, a Volvo, was measured at 89 km/h - also too fast for the permitted 60 km/h. The lightning campaign shows impressively: The inspectors are vigilant and keep an eye on the speeders!
