Keller fire in Johannstadt: Fire brigade in large -scale use against risk of smoke!

In a dramatic effort, 40 firefighters fought against a devastating basement fire in a high-rise building in Johannstadt, Florian-Geyer-Straße in the night of June 24, 2025. The fire broke out around 10:28 p.m. and kept the emergency services up to the early morning until around 4:03 a.m..

Among the brave helpers were units from the fire and rescue guards in Albertstadt, Übigau, Striesen and old town as well as the rescue team of the Johannstadt. The intensive use not only required the willingness of the fire brigade, but also a coordinated approach to prevent the smoke from spreading to neighboring buildings. Dramatic scenes could be observed while the fire brigade came to fight the flames and avert direct damage.
