Border drama in Bad Muskau: Afghan migrants and smugglers caught!
Federal police forces picked up five Afghan men in Bad Muskau on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday after receiving information about migrants being smuggled from Poland. The Polish border guards had previously arrested three Afghans in Łęknica, while others fled. Just 15 minutes after the tip-off, officers encountered the five suspects at a bus stop. Three of the men were unable to identify themselves, while two presented valid residence permits.
It turned out that the three unidentified Afghans had been trafficked. They reported that they had been taken by car from Warsaw to the border by an unknown person. The two men with German documents also appear to be involved in the smuggling; they have previous criminal offenses, including fraud and assault. Investigations into their exact role in the smuggling are still ongoing, while the smuggled migrants are expected to be returned to Poland.
