Nationwide control: Customs officers uncover undeclared work on Dresden construction sites!

On June 16, 2025, the financial control for undeclared work at the main customs office in Dresden carried out a comprehensive inspection in the construction industry. Eight construction sites in Dresden, Leipzig and eastern and northern Saxony were targeted with 100 customs officers. Over 260 employees from 60 companies were interviewed, with 65 cases discovered that will lead to further investigations.

The focus was on potential violations of the minimum wage, lack of social security contributions and illegal employment of foreign workers. Heike Wilsdorf, press spokeswoman at the main customs office, emphasized the challenges that the construction industry brings with it. Due to a network of companies and hidden practices, a meticulous approach is necessary to uncover violations and comply with legal regulations. All employers who employ workers in Germany are obliged to pay the minimum wage.
