Nationwide control: customs officers cover undeclared work on Dresden construction sites!

Dresden, Deutschland - On June 16, 2025, the financial control of the undeclared work of the Dresden main customs office carried out comprehensive control in the construction industry. With 100 customs officers, eight construction sites in Dresden, Leipzig as well as East and northern Saxons were targeted. Over 260 employees of 60 companies were interviewed, with 65 cases being discovered that will lead to further investigations.

The focus was on potential violations of the minimum wage, lack of social security contributions and illegal employment of foreign workers. Heike Wilsdorf, press spokeswoman at the main customs office, emphasized the challenges that the construction industry brings with it. With a network of companies and hidden practices, an meticulous approach is necessary to uncover violations and to maintain the legal provisions. All employers who employ employees in Germany are obliged to pay the minimum wage.
