On Thursday night, the federal police arrested a 50-year-old Bulgarian at the motorway border crossing near Görlitz who was trying to enter Germany despite an existing driving ban. There was an executive arrest warrant against him because he had already been sentenced to a fine of 900 euros by the Weißwasser district court almost a year ago, but had never paid it.
Shortly after his arrest, the man paid the fine and additional procedural costs totaling 419.60 euros, so that he was not sent to prison. The incident once again shows the strict enforcement of law and order at the German borders.
