New daycare project in Anger-Crottendorf: 134 places for the future!
In Anger-Crottendorf, a replacement building will be built for the Krönerstrasse 43 daycare center from spring 2026. The measure is urgently necessary because the old daycare center was closed in summer 2021 due to structural defects. This comes from a report by Leipzig Internet newspaper out. The new building will offer space for a total of 134 children: 88 kindergarten children, 4 integration children and 42 crèche children. The costs for the project are estimated at around 10.2 million euros.
The planned new building is expected to be put into operation in July 2028. Mayor Burkhard Jung has already confirmed the necessary administrative template in his official advice. This bill will be voted on at the upcoming June council meeting the Leipzig Internet newspaper reported.
Necessity and planning
The youth mayor Vicki Felthaus emphasized the need for additional daycare places in Anger-Crottendorf. The new building will inevitably meet the modern requirements of daycare centers. A two-story, barrier-free, barrier-free solid construction was chosen that meets the requirements of Energy House Standard 40. The daycare center is supplied with district heating and both a green roof and a PV system are planned on the roof areas.
All group rooms in the new building face southwest and offer a view of a large garden, which meets the requirements of a modern kindergarten. These modern demands also include aspects such as sustainability, flexibility, safety and health promotion. The providers are responding to the specific need for childcare places, because kindergartens are crucial for early childhood education and development rj-planungsbuero.de determines.
Historical context and art
The existing building of the former daycare center was built in solid construction in 1970 and over the years has no longer been structurally adapted to today's requirements. For this reason it was decided to demolish the old building. Parts of the facade are decorated with depictions of the musical fairy tale “Peter and the Wolf”, which is a listed building. In order to secure these works of art, a concept was developed in coordination with the monument protection authority, experts and architects. The planned new building will be built between the two available reliefs.
The debate over the new building shows how important it is to take history and identity into account when planning educational institutions. The change from the old to the new daycare center is not only a structural process, but also a step into the future of early childhood education in Leipzig.
