New festival area: Hoyerswerda is planning a state harvest festival in 2025!
In September 2025, Hoyerswerda will host Saxony's state harvest festival. The festival takes place from September 12th to 14th in the Neustadt Radio Leipzig reported. However, the city administration has developed a comprehensive security concept that makes it necessary to replan the festival.
Mayor Mirko Pink announced that there would only be one festival area, stretching from Albert-Einstein-Straße to Bautzener Allee. The original concept also called for a separate Thanksgiving festival in the old town, which is no longer feasible. Safety requirements require that all roads and paths be secured to prevent access for trucks and cars.
Security concept and financing issues
The city is facing financial challenges: reference is made to additional expenditure of more than 100,000 euros for two festival sites. Due to the tight budget, the festival has to be organized in the Neustadt, which costs around 50,000 euros. Loud Saxon A cancellation of the festival has already been ruled out, although those responsible in the city administration have expressed serious security concerns.
To ensure the safety of visitors, a traffic concept was designed. Visitors can park their cars on the outskirts of the city and from there they will be transported to the festival site by a bus shuttle. A high number of visitors is expected - up to 70,000 people are expected at both festivals in September.
Festivities and parade
The festival area will contain various attractions, including three stages, numerous dealer and catering stands and fairground shops. So far, 36 groups have already registered for the parade, which will move from the old town to the new town as planned. Other actors are warmly welcome to participate.
In view of the challenges, the city is urgently looking for helpers for the event to ensure that it runs smoothly. Whether it's a parking lot attendant or a moving attendant - every support is needed to make the state Thanksgiving festival an unforgettable event.
