New momentum in badminton: Ciar Pringle hired as coach in Mülheim!

At the beginning of June, the coaching team of the German Badminton Association (DBV) will be expanded. Ciar Pringle, a talented and internationally experienced coach from Scotland, is taking on the role of federal base coach at the German Badminton Center in Mülheim an der Ruhr. Pringle will be active in the U25 to U19/17 age groups and will bring a breath of fresh air to the training facilities, which is positively highlighted by DBV sports director Jakob Hoi. Matthias Hütten, the head of the federal base, also emphasizes Pringle's experience in the transition from youth to adult badminton.

Another important step in the DBV is the appointment of Johanna Käpplein as national singles coach, particularly with a focus on women's singles. She will also lead the U25 training group. Käpplein and the previous national junior coach, Detlef Poste, receive support from the federal base trainers Dr. Dirk Nötzel, Danny Schwarz and Ciar Pringle. The coaching team is well positioned, as the DBV can currently fill four out of five discipline national coaching positions.

Pringles international operations

Pringle is not only active in coaching, but has also taken part in competitions as a player. He recently made his debut for Scotland at the European Mixed Team Championships qualifying events in Portugal, where he replaced the injured Alex Dunn. Ciar Pringle said he was delighted with his nomination and hopes to perform well after training hard for his comeback following hip surgery last year.

The team in which Pringle plays is made up of other talented athletes: Joshua Apiliga, Chris Grimley, Adam Hall, Kirsty Gilmour, Julie MacPherson, Eleanor O'Donnell and Ciara Torrance join the squad. Scotland will compete in a challenging group, including against Spain, who is considered a seeded team, as well as Portugal, Ukraine and Latvia. The first games are scheduled for December 10th, followed by further matches in the following days.

The team atmosphere and Pringles return

Ciar Pringle has previously played for Scotland in team events as a junior and particularly enjoys the team atmosphere. The first challenges await the Scottish team at the beginning of December, which will compete at the High-Performance Sports Center in Caldas Da Rainha. His training preparation and participation at the Portuguese International, where Pringle won the qualification in the men's singles, show that he is still on the right track.

Overall, the collaboration between experienced coaches and aspiring players like Ciar Pringle will have a positive impact on the development of badminton in Germany and Scotland. The DBV and its trainers face exciting challenges and opportunities that are characterized by international experience and fresh impulses.
