Leipzig is investing 400,000 euros in state-of-the-art disaster protection!
The Leipzig district has today taken a significant step in the area of disaster control with an investment volume of around 400,000 euros. District Administrator Henry Graichen handed over new emergency vehicles and technical equipment at the Fire Brigade Technical Center (FTZ) in Borna, which are intended to significantly improve the operational readiness of the fire brigades. In addition to Graichen, district fire chief Nils Adam and employees of the Office for Fire Protection, Rescue Services and Disaster Control took part in the event, who together emphasized the importance of modern equipment for the safety of the population. Disaster control in the district is closely networked with the local fire departments, which further increases efficiency in emergencies.
The newly handed over vehicles and equipment are specifically designed to meet the needs of disaster relief trains. The highlights include:
Funding and support
This investment is largely financed from the district's own resources. On the occasion of the handover, it was also pointed out that 26,000 euros in funding from the Free State were used for the new command car. This drew attention to the efforts of the federal and state governments to modernize disaster control equipment and thus ensure better responsiveness in emergencies.
At the same time, a new fire department technical center will be opened in Chemnitz. This center, which is located at Fire Station III on Jagdschänkenstrasse, includes a modern functional building with technical rooms, lounges for disaster control personnel and administrative rooms with training and advisory services. The opening, which took place on Saturday, was attended by Mayor Barbara Ludwig (SPD). The center is intended to significantly improve regional fire brigade training and the fire department's operational capabilities.
Comprehensive practice areas and investment costs
The fire department technical center is equipped with 18 parking spaces for trucks and a variety of training areas, which are currently still under construction. The training areas are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year and include, among other things, a training tower and rubble fields. The original construction costs of 6.25 million euros have increased to currently 7.8 million euros due to expanded requirements.
These developments in Leipzig and Chemnitz illustrate the continuous efforts to provide modern and efficient disaster protection in the Free State of Saxony. Both the Leipzig district and the city of Chemnitz are setting important priorities for the safety of the population.
