Legendary metal event in Leipzig: Finntroll & Co. delight fans!
On June 7, 2025, the scenic city of Leipzig will once again be the venue for some of the most exciting concerts in the metal and gothic scene. The Finnish band stands out among the up-and-coming acts Finntroll which has secured a permanent place in the international music landscape since its founding in 1997. The band has shaped the genre with their unique style, which combines folkloric instruments, melodies and elements of black metal. The texts, which were originally about legends surrounding the fictional troll king “Rivfader”, have now diversified and still deal with Nordic myths. The band released their last album “Vredesvävd” in 2020 and may debut new music at their performance in Leipzig after a five-year studio break.
Finntroll's performance is scheduled for June 8th at 7:20 p.m. in the Heidnisches Dorf/Torhaus Dölitz. The band has experienced numerous line-up changes in its almost three-decade career, but has never given up its loyalty to folk and black metal, as *Wikipedia* describes this phenomenon. Her texts are mostly in Swedish and arise from a traditional narrative style.
Additional musical offerings
On June 6th the Australian duo Skynd enriching the electronic music scene with their very own style. With a combination of industrial, theatrical pop and hard rock elements, singer Skynd, together with music producer Father, appeals to different tastes. Her texts, which deal with human depths and unsolved murder cases, are often both shocking and captivating. Your performance begins at 8:45 p.m. in the agra facility.
The following day, June 9th The 69 Eyes stand on stage. This Finnish band, active since the late 80s, brings the legacy of gothic rock to the stage with a mix of classic rock and glam elements. Their most recent album, “Death of Darkness” from April 2023, has been a topic of conversation, even more so there would be news about an upcoming album that fans are expecting.
Gothic sounds from Austria
Also on June 7th will be the Austrian band Whispers In The Shadow play in the rock cellar. This formation has been active for almost 30 years and their musical style ranges between gothic rock, wave, post-rock and psychedelic elements. Her texts, which are strongly reminiscent of the writer H.P. Lovecraft could take the listener into a dark world.
A further enrichment is offered by Xandria, a Bielefeld band that has made a name for itself in symphonic metal for over 30 years. They have modernized their sound with their talented singer Ambre Vourvahis. Their performance on June 8th at 6:15 p.m. in the agra promises to be another highlight of this music weekend.
