On July 6, 2025, the police reported various incidents in and around Leipzig, including burglaries, traffic accidents and arson. These events shed light on the current security situation in the region.
The fatal traffic accident that occurred in Zschepplin on July 5, 2025 is particularly serious. A 28-year-old driver left the road for unknown reasons and collided with a tree, resulting in his immediate death. The material damage is estimated at 20,000 euros.
Burglary and vandalism
On the night of July 3rd to 4th, 2025, a restaurant in the center-southeast of Leipzig was broken into. Unknown perpetrators gained access by breaking a lock. Fire incidents and their consequences
On July 5, 2025, two large forest fires occurred in the region. The first fire broke out in Torgau on an area of 4 hectares and was successfully extinguished by 11 fire departments with 70 comrades. Traffic accidents and crimes
There have been several traffic accidents in the last few days, in which a total of three people were injured. An accident in Geithain was particularly serious, where a 30-year-old truck driver was seriously injured after trying to avoid a deer. The material damage is around 120,000 euros.
There was another incident in Wurzen, where an underage driver of a Ford Fiesta tried to evade a traffic stop on the night of July 5th and had an accident. He was slightly injured. His investigation is ongoing for several offenses as he did not have a driver's license and the vehicle was not registered.
In addition, two ticket machines were blown up in Leipzig on the night of July 6th. In Sellerhausen-Stünz, an ATM on Theodor-Heuss-Strasse was blown up and a cash box was stolen.
