New film shows the beauty of the Swabian Alb!
The new film by Dietmar Nill entitled “What the Alb tells us” celebrated its premiere today on the Hohen Neuffen. The nature photographer and filmmaker has set himself the goal of making the Swabian Alb biosphere area a monument and giving viewers an impressive insight into the region's diverse landscape. In his work, Nill not only shows breathtaking images, but also the peculiarities of the biological diversity that characterize this area. With the publication of the article, the premiere was announced at 05:00, which indicates the great interest in this project.
Nill, who is known for his enthusiasm for the biosphere area, uses the film to shed light on important environmental issues. At a time when biodiversity is increasingly threatened, he uses his film stories to speak up for the protection of these unique habitats. This is particularly relevant when considering the threats to species affected by industrial agriculture.
The Admiral and his habitats
A special focus in the film could be the Admiral butterfly (Vanessa atalanta), which is considered one of the most characteristic species in the Swabian Alb. With a wingspan of 50 to 65 mm and a striking dark upperparts with a red band, the admiral is a popular sight in the region's diverse habitats. These include forests, arable land, pastures, parks, cemeteries and gardens. Remarkably, the admiral is not considered endangered, but is suffering from habitat loss due to modern agriculture. Protective measures, such as supporting regional food, contribute significantly to the preservation of these habitats and many native species, which is also promoted by the initiatives of the Swabian Alb Biosphere, as can be read on the Alb Biosphere Reserve website.
By combining artistic representation and environmental awareness, Nill wants to raise awareness for the protection of nature in the Swabian Alb. The film will not only be shown in the region, but could also reach a larger audience in order to raise awareness of the relevance of biodiversity and the protection of habitats.
