Summer sounds and dance: highlights in Leipzig's music school!
The Leipzig “Johann Sebastian Bach” music school will provide musical highlights with a series of special events in June 2025. These celebrated events are all about summer and combine music with a festive atmosphere to which the general public is warmly invited.
A total of three major events will take place as part of the summer concerts. The first event is the **Summer Gala Dance**, which will take place on June 19th and 20th, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. in the Musikalische Comedy Leipzig. Visitors can expect a dazzling presentation by dancers from the music school, who perform both modern and classical dance styles. The ticket price is 12 euros, reduced price 8 euros, with options to purchase these through the Leipzig Opera or at the box office.
Open-air concert by the MSL Big Band
One day later, on June 20, 2025, from 8 p.m., the **MSL Bigband** will give a rousing open-air concert in the courtyard of Feinkost Leipzig. The approximately 30 musicians will perform jazz standards, funk and popular film music. Tickets are also available for 12 euros and reduced prices for 8 euros, with the box office opening from 7:15 p.m. (cash only).
In addition, as the culmination of the summer concerts, a **summer concert for families** will take place on June 25, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the Mendelssohn Hall of the Gewandhaus Leipzig. Three ensembles from the music school, including the symphonic wind orchestra as well as the preparatory ensemble for brass and the junior wind orchestra, will perform here. Tickets for this family event cost 10 euros or 7 euros reduced and are available from the Gewandhaus Leipzig.
A look at the MSL big band
The MSL Big Band has already earned an excellent reputation and is known for its diverse programs. The ensemble was able to look forward to numerous performances before 2025. Among other things, there was a Christmas concert at UT Connewitz on December 13th, 2024 and an appearance as part of the Leipzig Market Days on October 2nd, 2024. A Baltic Sea tour is also already planned for the summer of 2024, with performances in various seaside resorts between July 20th and 27th.
The 2025 summer concerts promise a varied program that combines both traditional and modern elements. The Leipzig Music School not only brings talent to the stage, but also celebrates the connection between culture and lifestyle in Leipzig.
