Arson and accidents: Police are investigating several cases!
Leipzig, August 4, 2025 - In the last few days, several incidents in the Leipzig area caused a stir and put the police on alert. The most notable cases include a stolen SUV that was found, a spectacular break-in at a bicycle shop and a dangerous arson in Delitzsch.
On August 1, 2025, a user parked his Skoda Kodiaq in Bennewitz near Wurzen. When he returned on August 2, 2025, the vehicle was missing. After reporting to the police, the SUV, whose value is estimated at around 40,000 euros, was finally located in the south of Leipzig. As a result, three suspects between the ages of 28 and 42 were identified. The forensic scientists secured evidence and parts of the stolen property were found during a search of the apartment. The Skoda has been returned to its rightful owner while investigations into the suspects continue. l-iz.de reports that ...
Burglary and arson in Delitzsch
On Friday night, the “Fahrrad Hammer” shop in Delitzsch was the target of a brazen break-in. The perpetrators took at least two high-end mountain bikes by backing a stolen car into the store. A 19-year-old German was caught hiding under a van. When he was arrested, officers also found burglary tools in his backpack. The identity of the accomplices is still unclear; their trail leads to Doberschütz.
The getaway car, a Mitsubishi, was later found burning in a field. It was apparently set on fire to cover the tracks. The fire department had to put out the fire. Owner Thomas Hammer estimates the repair costs at 20,000 to 30,000 euros. Some bikes in the store were damaged by flying splinters and will soon be sold at special prices. bild.de reports that ...
Dangerous road accident
Another incident occurred on August 3, 2025, when an alcoholic driver (50 years old, German) drove his pickup truck off the road in Lossatal and crashed into a tree. The driver then reported himself to the Grimma police station. A preliminary alcohol test showed more than 1.2 per mille. The vehicle had to be towed away, causing material damage of around 10,000 euros. The police have launched an investigation into the danger to road traffic.
In addition, an attempted bicycle theft was reported at an S-Bahn stop in Leipzig on the same day. Two perpetrators tried to steal a 34-year-old's bike, but were unsuccessful in the scuffle as the owner got it back. These incidents show that the police in the region continue to keep a close eye on the safety of citizens. The investigations into all cases are ongoing.
