Improved bus connections in Berchtesgadener Land are starting soon!

From next Sunday, May 25, 2025, the new summer timetable for local public transport (ÖPNV) will come into force in Berchtesgadener Land. This program announces improved bus services on numerous routes that will benefit both commuters and day-trippers. The optimizations, which have been in effect since August 2023, include better cycle times and improved connections to leisure destinations in the region. District Administrator Bernhard Kern emphasizes the importance of these measures in terms of greater climate protection reported.

Particularly noteworthy is line 840, which runs from Salzburg via Marktschellenberg to Berchtesgaden to Königssee. In the future, this line will be offered every half hour from Monday to Friday during rush hour. Lines 843A and 843B, in turn, run every 30 minutes every day in the community of Schönau am Königssee. In addition, other RVO lines in the southern district are experiencing an expansion of their offerings.
The offer includes a total of 37 bus routes with around 700 bus stops in Berchtesgadener Land, including the highest bus stop in Germany at Kehlsteinhaus at an altitude of 1,700 meters supplemented the responsible authority.

Optimized connections for excursions and commuters

The improved timetables are tailored not only to the needs of commuters, but also to those of day-trippers who want to visit the region. Among other things, line 829 enables a connection from Bad Reichenhall via Anger to Teisendorf, which runs every hour Monday to Friday and every two hours on weekends. Lines 852 and 853, which connect Freilassing with the surrounding communities, also benefit from the new timetables. The BGL day ticket and the Bayern ticket are particularly recommended for day trips as they offer extensive options for using local transport.
