A tragic traffic accident in Thuringia occurred on Thursday, July 3, 2025, when a 28-year-old motorcyclist died on the K26 between Schönau vor dem Walde and Schnepfenthal. According to information from Tixio the motorcyclist drove his Kawasaki towards Georgenthal. In a left-hand bend he overtook two vehicles, but lost control of his motorcycle and left the road. Tragically, he crashed into a traffic sign and, despite immediate rescue efforts, succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene.
The accident happened around 1:10 p.m. and the road had to be temporarily closed while an expert surveyed the scene. The material damage is estimated at around 6,000 euros. The damaged motorcycle was then towed away.
Rescue measures and consequences
The rescue measures initiated immediately could not save the life of the motorcyclist, who died from his injuries.
