On June 14, 2025, SC Pottenstein made history by securing the championship title in the 2nd class Triestingtal. In a decisive game, the Pottensteiners won 3-0 against SC Schönau. This victory not only meant winning the title, but also the long-awaited promotion to the 1st Class South after 15 years of absence.
The game took place in the away game against Schönau, and the guests dominated from the start. Already in the first half, Sani Vuckic gave the team a 1-0 lead with a penalty in the 45th minute. SC Schönau had difficulty finding its way into the game and couldn't create any significant chances. Pottenstein upped the ante in the second half: Cem Kilinc made it 0-2 in the 50th minute, before Ilie-Alexandru Lezeu made it 0-3 in the 62nd minute.
Celebrations after the triumph
Coach Christoph Neubauer announced celebrations after his team secured first place in the table. Pottenstein needed at least one point to leave the pursuers from Felixdorf behind. The celebration knew no bounds when the final whistle blew in the 92nd minute, and the players enthusiastically put on their championship jerseys to properly celebrate their triumph.
SC Pottenstein not only won the title, but also heralded a return to the 1st Class South, which is an important event for the team and the fans. The championship title in the 2nd class Triestingtal will be remembered as the highlight of a long season that was shaped with hard work and commitment.
