New chapter for the Almhotel Grünsteinblick: Wimmer takes over!

On July 1, 2025, it was officially announced that Bartl Wimmer had taken over the traditional Almhotel Grünsteinblick. This decision marks a significant moment for the hotel, which was built in 1904 as the first guest house on the elevated railway. In recent years, the establishment has developed from a simple rest stop for traveling salesmen into a high-quality holiday destination. The former owners, Vera and Bernhard König, who bought the hotel in 2014, say goodbye to their audience and their valued time in the facility with great gratitude and emotion.

The special feature of the Almhotel lies not only in its history, but also in its surroundings. Originally known as “Pension Grünsteinblick”, the hotel enjoyed great popularity among summer visitors from 1964 onwards. Under the Königs' management, the hotel received the coveted four-star award for the first time in 2022, which represents another milestone in the development of the hotel. Bartl Wimmer is committed to continuing to run the hotel with respect for its tradition and a deep understanding of the local culture.

A new chapter for Grünsteinblick

The takeover by Wimmers GmbH is not just a simple change of ownership, but a step into a new chapter for the Almhotel. Wimmer plans to continue the Koenigs' legacy while setting new standards to meet the growing demands of guests. The family atmosphere and warm hospitality that were maintained during the royal era should continue to be in the foreground.

The Almhotel Grünsteinblick also offers a wide range of wellness options. For relaxation, guests have access to a wellness garden with a relaxed atmosphere and various relaxation areas. Highlights are the Finnish sauna, which is a textile sauna that can accommodate up to six people, and the heated Sea Side Lounge pool, which is heated to a pleasant 36 degrees from December to April. The view of the majestic Watzmann and the valley provides additional relaxation and peace.

The unique rocky landscape that surrounds the hotel, as well as special relaxing areas such as the Ruhe-Almkaser and the “Hochthron” sun terrace, invite guests to unwind. Guests who enjoy being active can retreat to the comfortable loungers from Roolf Living and enjoy the impressive scenery.

Overall, the takeover by Bartl Wimmer symbolizes an exciting future for the Almhotel Grünsteinblick, which will remain a contact point for relaxation and enjoyment in the picturesque landscape. It is important to accompany this transition with anticipation and to observe how the hotel will develop further under new management.
