ETSC is relegated to the district league C – Schönau saves itself dramatically!

The 2024/25 football season in the Euskirchen football district has been decided and has produced clear promotion and relegation scenarios. The Euskirchener TSC (ETSC) had to make the bitter transition to the district league C, while other teams were able to assert themselves successfully. There are still qualifying games for the association level in youth football.

In the district league A, Luke Bungart took the top scorer crown with 54 goals. Meanwhile, Euskirchener TSC had to accept relegation along with other teams such as SC Roitzheim II, Sportfreunde DHO and SG Hellenthal II. Relegated from the district league A are TB-SV Füssenich-Geich, SG Hellenthal, TuS Dom-Esch and SC Roitzheim.

Promotion and relegation in the lower leagues

Some teams were able to secure their place in the district league B. TuS Vernich is promoted from the district league B1, while in the district league B2 the direct comparison decided on promotion. SSV Golbach can also look forward to promotion to the district league A. Inter Euskirchen, SV Metternich, SG Ülpenich/Nemmenich/Elsig and SSC Firmenich are represented in the district league B.

The regulations regarding promotion and relegation are clearly regulated in the various amateur classes. The champions of the district league have to be promoted to the association league, with those second in the table fighting for further places in additional promotion games. In district class A, the better teams can also be promoted to the district league, while the last two teams have to be relegated to district class B, as seen in the Euskirchen league.

Uncertain future for the ETSC

The future of the Euskirchener TSC remains uncertain. After the relegation and the departure of the department head and coach, the course for the coming season has not yet been set. The club faces major challenges in order to reorient itself in the district league C and to stabilize the team. SC Roitzheim has also announced that it will only register one team in the coming season.

While the men's teams are fighting for their positions in the league, the women of SC Wißkirchen put in a strong performance by securing relegation with a 4-1 win against Ippendorf II. The men's team also triumphed with a 2-1 win against VfL Sindorf and is celebrating a special event: its 100th anniversary will be honored with a friendly match against Fortuna Cologne.

In conclusion, it can be said that the Euskirchen football district is facing exciting challenges. The changes in the leagues will present new tasks for both game operations and club management. The women's cup final will soon be played at 7 p.m. in Füssenich between Erfthöhen and Kommern, while the men will meet on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Wißkirchen.
