On November 14, 2025, Sebastian Punz, known as DJ Wastl, will announce the end of his 12-year stint at the Kaserbar in Schönau am Königssee. He announced this decision on his Facebook page and stated that it was the right time for him to quit. DJ Wastl started DJing at the age of 16 and officially performed for the first time in the Kaserbar on February 6, 2014.
He originally played every other Thursday, but switched to a weekly Friday in 2016. After the lockdown, he even performed every weekend for almost a year. In July 2025, Punz took over his father's inn, which now takes a lot of his time. His favorite hits include “Welcome to St. Tropez” by DJ Antoine, “I Love it” by Icona Pop and the “Pink Panther Theme”. In his review, Punz also notices a change in disco culture, which can be observed particularly after the corona pandemic.
Changed culture of celebration
The decline in youth attendance at nightclubs is among the notable changes cited by Punz. He shares these observations with Pit and Yvonne Kurz, the owners of the Kaserbar. One reason for this decline could also be the increasing use of social media, which has had a lasting impact on the celebration culture.
Punz is not only perceived as a DJ, but also as an important part of the Kaserbar, who always created a family atmosphere. Even though he is now ending his regular performances, he plans to perform again at special events such as fire brigade parties.
