Left-wing extremist rioters wreak havoc in Plagwitz: Police are investigating!
On the night of Friday, October 2, 2025, there was a serious breach of the peace in the Leipzig district of Plagwitz, which called the police into action. Masked people belonging to the left-wing extremist spectrum marched through the streets with banners, leaving a trail of destruction behind them. According to Radio Erzgebirge, windows from a parliamentary office, a bank and a bus stop, among other things, were smashed. At least two cars, including a Chevrolet and a Porsche, were also wrecked. However, another attempt to set another vehicle on fire failed.
The incident was reported at 11:10 p.m. The damage cannot currently be quantified and the investigation is being carried out by the police state security. The police secured evidence at the crime scene, while the perpetrators openly presented political demands on banners related to the Middle East conflict and imprisoned people. Further details about the background to the action are still unclear, but it is suspected that the rioters wanted to influence the political mood in the city.
Investigations in full swing
As a result, the police have started an investigation into a serious breach of the peace. Such violent protests are a sign of increasing tensions in society. City leaders and security authorities are concerned about the escalation of violence in this form.
In connection with this incident, the public also remembered a traffic accident that also took place that day in Leipzig, specifically in Schönefeld-Abtnaundorf. A 23-year-old cyclist was injured by a 39-year-old driver who was driving an Audi Q3. The driver overlooked the cyclist who had the right of way when turning. As a result, the cyclist had to be hospitalized, while the driver was released after treatment. The material damage amounts to over 2,000 euros.
These two incidents illustrate the current challenges in Leipzig, both in terms of social conflicts and traffic safety. The authorities are faced with the task of both maintaining public order and protecting citizens from dangerous traffic situations.
