Paunsdorf skate park: Citizens' ideas for new leisure hotspot asked!

Zum Wäldchen 6, 04329 Leipzig, Deutschland - On June 18, 2025, an information event for the planned skate park will take place in Leipzig Paunsdorf. This will often take place on Wednesday, June 25th, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the open leisure meeting, which is located near the Paunsdorf high school. The presentation is organized by the offices for city green and water as well as for housing and urban renewal. The aim of the event is to present the first design suggestions for the skate park as part of the green area open space project. Citizens are invited to contribute their ideas and information on planning in order to create a public freedom for sport, play and encounter together.

The planned skate park is part of a comprehensive development project in the Paunsdorf area, which is considered to be worthy of funding. As part of a city -wide skate development concept, the location of the planned park was carefully examined and evaluated. Particular emphasis is placed on the participation of children and adolescents who are to be supported by the Leipzig Children's and Youth Office. The financing of the skate park project is done, among other things, by means of the program of social cohesion.

The green arc Paunsdorf

The Green Bogen Paunsdorf project extends over 120 hectares and aims to create a new recreational landscape to improve the quality of environment and life in this district. This ambitious project has been working on this ambitious project since 1999.

An example of a skate park in Leipzig that has already been successfully implemented is the "Parkallee" skate park in Grünau, which was opened on December 6, 2021 after over a year and a half. The old skate park was in a very need for renewal after 15 years, so that the new direction was necessary on around 2,500 square meters of area. The system is divided into three areas: Street, Flow and Bowl. It offers numerous offers for all ages and meets the current requirements of the scooter, inline, skateboard and BMX scene.

diverse use and sustainability

The elements integrated in the "Parkallee" skate park, including transitions, street and banking areas, ensure versatile use. Particular attention was paid to the barrier planning, which also enables wheelchair users. An innovative floodlight system, which is equipped with automatic performance regulation, not only ensures energy -saving lighting, but can also be operated at full performance if necessary. The total costs for the planning and construction of the system amounted to around 1.7 million euros, with 90 percent of the financing through the funding program investment pact "Social integration in the district" being secured. The skate park is part of a comprehensive package of measures to upgrade the Grünau district.

In addition to the skate systems, the area offers amenities such as streetball, table tennis and calisthenics options as well as a park-like area to rest and observe the athletes. 21 trees as well as around 2,000 ground cover and shrubs were newly planted, and special rigoles are installed to have rainwater seepl off.

The planned skate park in Paunsdorf is not only a place for sporting activities, but could also play an important role in the social and urban development of the district, as has already become clear in other projects in Leipzig.
