The Wave-Gotik-Treffen (WGT) 2025 in Leipzig, the largest festival of the gothic scene in the world, will take place from June 5th to 9th, 2025. The WGT was held for the first time in 1992, with 2,000 participants and eight bands. In 2024, the festival already had around 20,000 visitors. This tradition will continue next year as the city transforms into a cultural center for the goth community. Many WGT events are public and free, so those interested can also take part without a ticket. That reports MDR.

One of the highlights is the Victorian picnic in Clara Zetkin Park, which will take place on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 3 p.m. Visitors are invited to bring their own food and drinks and to dress in period clothing. The hearse parade to the South Cemetery on Saturday, June 7th, from 11 a.m. also promises to be spectacular. Admission is free for both the picnic and the parade.

Diverse program

The WGT offers a variety of events, including the Gothic Pogo Festival in the Kulturfabrik “Werk 2”, which takes place from June 5th to 9th. The entry price for a 5-day ticket is 58 euros, which is already sold out; However, visitors can purchase a ticket for 18 euros at the box office. If you just want to go to the party, you pay 10 euros. In addition, the Pagan Village in Agra Park opens its doors daily from 11 a.m. from June 6th to 9th, complemented by a varied program with music and jugglers.

Other events include the wine tasting at the Grassi Museum, which takes place on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the mystical “Blue Hour” in the Lößnig-Dölitz Recreation Park on the same evening from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Visitors can also expect an exciting scientific discussion entitled "WTF! Science meets friendship" on June 7th and 8th, at 12 p.m.

Tickets and arrival

To enter the WGT, visitors can purchase a four-day ticket for 170 euros, available at the box office as it is no longer available online. Children up to 12 years of age have free entry if accompanied by parents. Parking vignettes and campsite care cards are also available. Ticket holders can use all local transport in tariff zone 110 free of charge. The box offices are open at different times at various locations, including the Agra trade fair park and the main train station.

Another organizational highlight is the first radio station “80s80s WGT”, which will broadcast during the festival. Traffic restrictions around the Agra trade fair park will begin on Wednesday, and replacement traffic will be set up due to S-Bahn disruptions. A total of 152 musicians have already been confirmed for 2025, including well-known names such as Combichrist, Silke Bischoff and Alphaville.
