On Wednesday evening, June 18, 2025, there was a major fire in Cologne-Lindenthal. The fire brigade was alerted at around 9:30 p.m. after an apartment fire in University Road on the corner of Dürener Straße was reported. The flames had recorded an apartment on the fourth floor, in which there was a bedding senior citizen.

A total of three people were injured: the senior herself, her husband and a caregiver. All three suffered flue gas poisoning and had to be hospitalized. The affected apartment burned out completely and is now uninhabitable. The post -extinguishing work continued until late in the evening, while the fire brigade did not provide any information on the cause of the fire. According to Express were 46 emergency services and 17 fire engines involved in the operation.
