The fire brigade Krefeld was confronted with several demanding missions on the weekend of May 31 to June 1, 2025. A major fire in a workshop of a vehicle operation in Dießemer Bruch was the focus in the afternoon of May 31. At 3 p.m., the fire brigade received the alarm over the fully flames, which led to a visible column of smoke and triggers a variety of emergency calls. Up to 120 emergency services from the professional and volunteer fire brigade were deployed to combat the fire and to cope with the direct danger situation. The extinguishing work lasted until the evening and required the entire use of the forces on site.

After the fire, a thunderstorm pulled over the downtown of Krefeld, which was reached around 10 p.m. The adverse weather conditions brought storm gusts, heavy rain and hail, which caused considerable damage in several districts. The districts of Lindenthal-Gatherhof, Stadtmitte, Cracau, Dießem, Bockum and Oppum were particularly affected.

High number of emergency calls and operations

The city of Krefeld recorded over 600 emergency calls, which referred to fully run basement, fallen trees and fallen branches.
