Experience the contrast: What’s new in the Baroque Rammenau Castle!

Opened on June 29, 2025 Baroque castle Rammenau the permanent exhibition “Cowshed and silver plates – nobility and everyday life in Rammenau”. This new exhibition offers a deep insight into the contrasting worlds of castle residents and servants who lived in 1777. The history of the nobility and servants can be experienced through interactive stations and captivating scenes from everyday life.

The entire exhibition space is designed to appeal to both adults and children. In addition to the traditional exhibits, visitors can immerse themselves in display cases in the style of baroque peep shows and discover theater-like scenes that bring the castle's stories to life. Multimedia highlights and exciting listening stations in the Meierhof and park complement the experience.

Opening times and entrance fees

The exhibition is open from June 30 to October 26, 2025, Mondays and Wednesdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The castle remains closed on Tuesdays. From October 27th to December 21st, 2025, opening hours will change to 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Last entry is 1.5 hours before closing.

The entry prices are as follows:

  • Erwachsene: 8 Euro
  • Ermäßigt: 7 Euro
  • Kinder und Heranwachsende bis 16 Jahre: 1 Euro
  • Kinder bis 5 Jahre: freier Eintritt

Attractions for the whole family

Visitors can not only enjoy the exhibition, but also use the playground in the Meierhof and try regional specialties in the castle café. The café offers homemade cakes, freshly brewed coffee and a changing themed menu for special culinary delights. The park invites you to take relaxing walks.

A special highlight is an oil painting by Horst Schlossar, which is being returned to the castle on loan from the municipality of Rammenau and shows the life of the farmers and LPG officials in the stately rooms. Former castle residents also report on the period after 1945, when the castle was no longer owned by the nobles.

This innovative exhibition, which combines historical facts with interactive elements, offers a unique experience and shows the contrast between hard work in the cowshed and the comfortable life in the saloon.
