Five vehicles stolen: Police investigate Leipzig's series of burglaries!
In the last few days, the police in Leipzig have recorded an alarming increase in vehicle thefts. A total of five vehicles were stolen in different parts of the city, while a number of break-ins into homes and garages were discovered. The investigators suspect that these are particularly serious thefts and are therefore looking for the perpetrators and the stolen vehicles. Loud Grimma media portal The police and criminal police are active in all cases and take the situation extremely seriously.
The theft of a white VW Polo from a garage in Liebertwolkwitz, which took place between September 6th and 17th, is particularly noticeable. Tools were also stolen from a renovated single-family home; the total damage is estimated at over 7,000 euros. The theft of a gray VW Golf from the parking lot of an allotment garden association in Böhlitz-Ehrenberg on September 17th also stands out; the owner noticed the loss five hours after parking. The value of the vehicle is around 10,000 euros.
SUV thefts and burglaries
On the night of September 16th to 17th, two SUVs were stolen in Schönefeld-Ost and Dölitz-Dösen. A brown Toyota Land Cruiser worth around 50,000 euros and a gray Toyota C-HR worth around 22,000 euros were stolen. There was also a break-in in Mockau-Süd, where perpetrators got into a single-family home using a front door key left outside. Cash and vehicle keys were stolen here, which led to the theft of a green VW Golf (built in 2003), the value of which is estimated at around 2,000 euros.
In addition to these incidents, report Day24 that two vehicles were stolen from a car dealership in the west of Leipzig on Tuesday night, including a Kia Ceed and a Jeep Compass. The perpetrators broke into the car dealership in Burghausen-Rueckmarsdorf by breaking a window. The amount of the theft damage cannot yet be quantified, but the material damage caused by the break-in amounts to around 2,000 euros. A police operation was triggered on Tuesday morning when a stolen Jeep Compass was pursued through Grünau at excessive speed and finally came to a stop in the thicket. However, the perpetrators were able to escape on foot and remained unrecognized.
The police have started investigations into particularly serious theft in all of the cases mentioned. The increase in thefts and burglaries in Leipzig is causing concern among the population and presenting security authorities with several challenges.
