Lausener Bogen becomes barrier -free: closures and diversions from June 30th!

From Monday, June 30th, the barrier -free conversion of the “Lausener Bogen” stops on Lausener Strasse starts. This measure is intended to improve accessibility for all citizens. The work includes the installation of new road crossings at the intersection, which are equipped with a blind control system. The city of Leipzig thus sets an important sign of inclusion in local public transport. According to l -iz , the Lausener Straße between Am Sonneneck and Lausener Bogen for cars will be fully blocked. However, pedestrians and cyclists can be guided past the construction site.

In order to maintain the flow of traffic, replacement stops for bus line 161 are set up in the Lausener sheet and at the Sonneneck. The diversions for car traffic are also determined: inland via the B 186, Rippachtalstraße and Georg-Ellrodt-Straße and out of town on Ratzelstraße, Schönauer Strasse and Georg-Ellrodt-Straße. These traffic adjustments will probably remain in force until August 8th if the work is to be completed.

Financial support and current developments

The total costs of the renovation amount to around 142,000 euros. Around 90 percent of them are funded by the special -purpose association for the local transport area in Leipzig (ZVNL). This investment in the infrastructure is followed by an already measure: since April the stops "am Sonneneck" in Lausen-Grünau have also been expanded barrier-free, which is further progress in improving the usability of local public transport.

in other cities, such as in Schwedt/Oder, a similar trend is shown. The city has also promoted the barrier -free expansion of bus stops there, with many stations being rebuilt in recent years. Applications for further conversions have already been made. The requirements for such stops include, among other things, a level -like entry and step -free access, as well as control systems that are intended to help blind and visually impaired to find the stop ( Brandenburg.de ).

)

The legal requirements come from the endeavor to strengthen mobility for all citizens and to ensure equivalent participation in public life. The optimization of stops is an essential step in this way and should also be extended to other areas in the future to establish a nationwide barrier -free system.
