In the night of June 17, 2025, three Georgians tried to break a cigarette machine in the Knautkleeberg-Knauthain district in Leipzig. The perpetrators, at the age of 23, 31 and 32, were observed by an attentive witness who immediately informed the police. When the officials arrived, the men fled in different directions.

The escape of the 23- and 32-year-old was particularly explosive, who plunged into a nearby pond to hide from the police. The fire brigade had to be called to save the two from the water because they could no longer get to the shore on their own.
