Police catch drunk drivers: Alcohol is so dangerous!

On Sunday evening, after midnight, police officers carried out a control operation in Holzhausen on the main street. As part of this measure, several traffic offenders were identified. Among those arrested was a driver from Lage who showed a breath alcohol level of more than one per mille. This significantly exceeds the permissible blood alcohol limit for drivers, which starts at 0.5 per mille, above which an administrative offense occurs and at 1.1 per mille the absolute inability to drive occurs.

A blood test was ordered for the affected driver and his driver's license was confiscated. Such an approach is necessary because driving under the influence of alcohol endangers not only the safety of the driver, but also that of other road users, as ADAC emphasizes.

Repeat offender without a driving license

A driver from Bad Salzuflen was also stopped by the police. She was driving even though she apparently didn't have a valid driver's license - apparently for the second time. In her case, the officers initiated proceedings for driving without a license. The consequences of these violations can be significant, ranging from fines to driving bans. In particular, driving without a license entails legal action that can pose serious challenges for those affected.

Violations of this type not only result in fines. A driver who drives with a blood alcohol level of 0.5 to 1.09 must expect a fine and possibly a driving ban. If the level exceeds 1.1 per mille, criminal proceedings can even be initiated. ADAC emphasizes that there can also be financial consequences in the event of an accident under the influence of alcohol. In such cases, the insurance company could make recourse claims of up to 5,000 euros.

Police will continue to carry out more intensive checks to make the streets safer. Both drunk drivers and those without a license must be prepared for the consequences of their behavior.
