No luck for Holzhausen: WFV Cup promises exciting duels!

The draw for the upcoming WFV Cup season has produced exciting encounters. A total of 109 teams are taking part in the tournament, which begins with the first round on the weekend of July 26th and 27th, 2025. The second round will take place on August 2nd and 3rd, followed by the third round on August 9th and 10th, 2025. The draw was held last week in Stuttgart, under special circumstances characterized by the Stuttgart 21 construction site. Matthias Harzer led the event and Ali Odabas handed over a copy of the trophy to the participants. Visitors were required to wear helmets during the draw.

One of the interesting encounters was FC Holzhausen, who, as last year's semi-finalists, will now play against TSG Tübingen from the association league. In addition, TSG Balingen, which won the WFV Cup in 2023 and thus celebrated the greatest success in the club's history, received a bye in the first round. Balingen's path last year took them through several clear victories, including an outstanding 6-1 against SV Nehren and a 4-0 in the round of 16 against SV Fellbach. As a reward for winning the cup, Balingen will play in the DFB Cup against VfB Stuttgart next season.

Matches and game plan

The draw produced the following game:

  • FC Holzhausen gegen TSG Tübingen
  • VfL Nagold gegen TSV Harthausen
  • BSV 07 Schwenningen gegen SG Empfingen
  • SV Seedorf gegen TuS Ergenzingen (Aufsteiger)
  • TSV Möttlingen gegen SV Croatia Reutlingen (Landesliga)
  • Spielvereinigung Freudenstadt gegen Young Boys Reutlingen

TSG Balingen will face SSV Reutlingen in the quarter-finals. In case of a win, the team aims to play in the semi-finals against the winner of the game between SGV Freiberg and TSG Backnang. The quarter-finals are scheduled for April 2, 2026, with the final taking place on May 24, 2026 at the GAZi Stadium.

Financial incentives and targeting

The financial incentives in this cup round are considerable. The teams that advance to the quarter-finals will receive 2,500 euros each, while the semi-finalists will receive 5,000 euros. The loser of the final will win 20,000 euros. Particularly noteworthy is the anticipation of TSG Balingen, which is planning to play a test match against SG Empfingen on February 8th and against SGV Freiberg on February 14th in order to optimally prepare for the challenges ahead.

Overall, the new season of the WFV Cup promises exciting encounters and great opportunities for the participating teams. The dynamics and level of competition could hold some surprises. While TSG Balingen looks to repeat their 2023 triumph, many other teams are testing their skills at various levels and hoping to shine in this competition.
