Holzhausen lights up: The Advent maypole inspires the community!
On December 7, 2025, the Advent maypole in Holzhausen was ceremoniously inaugurated, a new tradition that was started by the Holzhausen fire department. The Maypole Square shone in festive splendor on the first Sunday of Advent. Numerous people gathered under bare branches and next to a fire engine to take part in this special event. The chairman of the board gave a welcoming speech and lit the first candle on the tree, which had only recently been decorated with a wreath of Advent candles. Despite the challenges posed by the weather, the string of lights on the tree did not hold up, but this did not dampen the mood.
The idea for the Advent maypole came about in the spring and preparations began in May. Warm drinks and small meals were offered in a small hut. The fire department provided mulled wine and children's punch. The event took place under a partial road closure to ensure the safety of participants. This is a joint project of the Holzhauser associations; Every Sunday in Advent, another candle is lit on the wreath to celebrate the anticipation of Christmas together.
A varied Advent program
The tradition of Advent is complemented in Holzhausen by the lively Advent calendar, which takes place from December 1st to 24th, 2025. The doors open every day at 6 p.m., with each event organized by different families and organizations. On December 7th, Laura and Logan Anderson will host the event, which is part of the colorful program. Citizens are asked to bring their own drinking vessels to do their part in sustainability.

The variety of events that span the entire Advent weeks shows the great commitment and creativity of the Holzhauser community. It is expected that the coming Advent Sundays will also be characterized by a corresponding program and the participation of local clubs.
In this festive context, the Advent maypole is not only a symmetrical symbol of the pre-Christmas season, but also a sign of cohesion and tradition in Holzhausen. The mixed events and the constant participation of citizens promote community and bring people closer together.
