After 9th place: SPG Pettenbach/Grünau plans attack on the top 5!

The SPG Pettenbach/Grünau looks optimistic about the upcoming challenges after a mixed season 2024/25 that ended with a ninth place in the Landesliga West. Coach Rainer Kührer was satisfied with the performance of the team and the positive development, which was achieved during the season despite many injuries. In this way, the team was able to act without risk of relegation and thus fulfilled the expectations.

During the summer break, the SPG is now planning targeted personnel changes. A central goal is to integrate young talents more into the team and promote playful stability. In addition, a balanced mix of experienced and young players is to be created to increase the consistency. "We have a lot of young talented players, but we often lack experience," said Kührer. The sporting director Walter Waldhör is optimistic and believes that a place among the top five in the coming season is realistic, "if we work hard", he added.

Personnel changes and new additions

In the summer transfer period, some changes have already been made. Alois Pühringer left the club towards Salzburg while Tobias Riedler switched to Wallern. In order to give local talents more chances, Dejan Erak and Niklas Gösweiner were also given.

Antonio Dukic, who comes from the Union Adlwang, and Fabian Altmanninger, who returns to SV Kuchl after a short intermezzo. The two brothers Thomas and Andreas Helmberger were hired by SV Grün-Weiß Micheldorf to stabilize the defensive. In addition, Alexander Meister, who already played for Pettenbach between 2014 and 2017, comes into midfield.

preparation and first test games

The start of the training with the new players took place on July 3, and the first units went positively. The main thing is to quickly integrate the newcomers into the team and strengthen the team unity. A first endurance test in the Landescup is on the program on July 25th against the Union St. Florian, followed by the league start on August 8 in the Robex Arena against SC Schwanenstadt.

In summary, the SPG Pettenbach/Grünau is determined to take up the positive approaches of the past season and to show an even better performance in the upcoming games. Even if the competition in the league is strong, those responsible are optimistic that the team can reach the desired place among the top five teams with hard work and commitment.
