On November 18, 2025, at around 12:40 p.m., the Chemnitz Federal Police Inspectorate was alerted that an unknown perpetrator had attacked a regional train between Chemnitz and Dresden near Niederwiesa train station with a throwing object. On site, the officers only found a gravel stone that was presumably thrown from the track bed. Luckily there were no injuries.
The federal police immediately launched an investigation into dangerous interference with rail traffic and is calling on the public to help. Witnesses who saw something or who can provide information about possible perpetrators are asked to come forward immediately. The incident has brought the security situation in rail transport into focus.
