Serious accident in Markranstädt: 17-year-old injured without helmet and driver's license

A dramatic traffic accident occurred on Sunday evening on Leipziger Straße in Markranstädt when a 17-year-old driving an unregistered KTM was seriously injured. The teenager tried to overtake a car in front, drove over a traffic island, lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a parked van. As a result, he fell and slipped against another car.

Rescue workers immediately took the seriously injured teenager to the hospital. The police had to completely close Leipziger Straße while the accident was being investigated. During the investigation it turned out that the driver did not have a valid driving license and was driving without a helmet. The material damage caused amounts to several thousand euros. The police have now started an investigation into driving without a license and a violation of the compulsory insurance law.
