At the Görlitz motorway checkpoint things really got going on Thursday morning! A 49-year-old passenger on a coach was arrested by the federal police. There was an arrest warrant against him from the Gießen public prosecutor's office because he had not paid a fine of 360 euros for theft. Instead, he was taken straight to the correctional facility - a quick end to his journey!
But that wasn't all! Shortly afterwards, the police stopped another Polish citizen, a 23-year-old, also because of an arrest warrant. The Regensburg public prosecutor's office had issued the penalty order against him just a few days ago. He was faced with an outstanding debt of 750 euros for theft. Fortunately, he was able to pay the amount on the spot and continue his journey. Another example of the strict controls at our borders!
