Revolution at Leipzig/Halle Airport: New entry regulations for 2025!

From December 10, 2025, traveling for third-country nationals at Leipzig/Halle Airport will be fundamentally changed! The new border system replaces traditional passport stamping with digital capture of photographs, fingerprints and entry and exit data. This measure comes as part of the EU's Smart Borders agenda and aims to strengthen the external borders of the Schengen area.

For passengers from the EU as well as from Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, everything remains the same - no changes for you! The new biometric identification will not only enable more precise recording of length of stay, but also contribute to the fight against crime and irregular migration. The Federal Police and Leipzig/Halle Airport work hand in hand to guarantee a rock-solid crossing and the highest security standards. Travelers should definitely find out about the new procedures before their flight!
