A 34-year-old Polish woman was arrested on Wednesday at the Görlitz motorway border crossing, even though she knew there was an arrest warrant against her. During the immigration check, the federal police discovered that the woman had been convicted of attempted fraud and had to serve almost 300 days of a remaining prison sentence in a correctional facility. She was originally sentenced to two years and five months.
Additionally, it was determined that due to her previous conviction, the Polish woman was scheduled to remain in prison until March 2024 before being deported to Poland. Her freedom of movement in Germany had already been revoked in the summer of 2023, which resulted in a six-year entry and residence ban. Despite these clear regulations, she ignored the ban, which could potentially result in criminal consequences for her. The police have already filed a complaint on suspicion of a violation of the Freedom of Movement Act.
