Major fire in Chemnitz: warehouse and vehicles in flames!
Early on Saturday evening, residents alerted the fire department and police to a fire on Chemnitztalstrasse. Several hundred Euro pallets initially burst into flames on a company premises before the fire spread to an adjacent warehouse. Luckily, the fire department was able to prevent the flames from spreading to other buildings.
The warehouse burned down completely, and three vehicles that were parked on the site or in the immediate vicinity also fell victim to the flames. During the extinguishing work, which lasted until Sunday morning, three firefighters, aged 19 and 34, suffered minor injuries and were treated on site. The material damage cannot yet be quantified. The Chemnitz criminal police have started investigating the cause of the fire, which has not yet been clarified. In addition, Chemnitztalstraße between Dammweg and Bornaer Straße was completely closed as a result of the fire and the emergency measures.
