On July 26, 2025, the federal police arrested an Azerbaijani smuggler near Neugersdorf. He is accused of having brought three compatriots to Germany illegally. As part of the increased border controls, the police were able to track down the suspected perpetrators and initiate investigations into the smuggling of foreigners and unauthorized entry.
The people who were smuggled were immediately sent back to the Czech Republic. However, the smuggler was released after his arrest while investigations continue.
