Dresden: Fire brigade saves tram after spectacular switch error!
A spectacular incident occurred in Dresden on July 24, 2025: a technical error on a switch caused a tram to derail. While the front bogies of the train followed the straight track, the rear bogies were directed onto a branch, which ultimately led to the accident. Fortunately, the crew remained uninjured.
The fire brigade were on site quickly and worked closely with the dispatchers from Dresden Transport Authority (DVB) to clarify and resolve the situation. During the operation, 24 specialists from the Albertstadt and Striesen guards were on duty. Tram traffic at Postplatz was severely affected by the incident, but emergency services ensured that everything was brought under control as quickly as possible.
